The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has destroyed 3.3 tonnes of cocaine with an estimated value of over $350 million. The exercise, carried out, followed a directive from the Accra High Court. The destruction took place at the Ghana Armed Forces Base in Bundase under strict supervision. Officials from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Office of the Attorney-General, lawyers of the accused persons, selected media houses, and international observers were present to witness the process.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has clarified that fees charged for road traffic infractions and delinquency have existed since 2012 and are not a new initiative introduced under his leadership. Speaking to the media during a discussion on DVLA’s roadside enforcement and related charges, Mr Kotey said: “These have been there since 2012. It is not my doing. Just that the level of enforcement then wasn’t as efficient as it is now.”

Deputy Attorney General Dr. Justice Srem Sai has confirmed that foreign investigative partners are actively tracking Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, over suspicions of criminal activity linked to his business operations and personal dealings. “There are issues with our foreign partners—an investigative agency,” Dr. Srem Sai revealed.
“We have partnered with other foreign agencies who are interested in matters that have been traced—or suspicions of crime that have been traced—to his business and him personally.” The Deputy Attorney General clarified: “It is not that it will be triggered necessarily by our foreign partners, but they are interested in what we are doing, and they assist us, just as we assist them. That is how law enforcement works these days—it’s cooperative, it’s international.” Dr. Srem Sai said the interest from foreign agencies stems from suspicions that “the proceeds of crime or materials which are subject to criminal proceedings have found their way into his possession.” He emphasized that disclosing certain operational details could compromise investigations.
