Romance scam culprits to face extradition, prosecution – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned that individuals engaged in romance scams, whether targeting Ghanaians or foreigners, will face extradition and prosecution.

Speaking at the launch of Cyber Security Awareness Month in Accra on Wednesday, October 1, he revealed that Ghana is working with international partners to tackle online fraud and will act firmly on evidence gathered against perpetrators.

According to him, existing extradition treaties will be used to return suspects to face trial in relevant jurisdictions.

He emphasised that both Ghanaians and foreign nationals caught in such acts will be handed over for prosecution to safeguard citizens and protect Ghana’s global reputation.
