Mahama Petitions to Remove Justice Yonny Kulendi for misconduct

A petition has been formally submitted to President John Dramani Mahama seeking the dismissal of Supreme Court Justice Yonny Kulendi over allegations of judicial misconduct.

Filed by Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta on September 30, 2025, and confirmed by Citi News, the petition accuses Justice Kulendi of inappropriately influencing proceedings in the High Court case involving the ambulance procurement scandal Republic v. Cassiel Ato Forson & 2 Others.

Excerpts from the petition allege that Justice Kulendi’s conduct violates the Code of Conduct for Judges and Magistrates, potentially compromising judicial independence and diminishing public confidence in the judiciary.

Mr. Ofori-Atta confirmed to Citi News that the petition has been received and acknowledged by the Office of the President.

However, any action regarding the removal of a Supreme Court Justice must adhere to the constitutional procedure outlined in Article 146 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
