On Monday, 16 June 2025, Koforidua Polyclinic held a staff durbar to formally receive a generous donation of medical equipment from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The occasion brought together key stakeholders, including the facility’s management and staff, as well as several dignitaries and invited guests.
Notable attendees included representatives from the church, the Municipal Director of Health, the Deputy Director of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly, the Regional Equipment Manager, and the Queen Mother of the Koforidua Central Market. The durbar was chaired by Dr. Samuel Bortie Borlabi, Deputy Director of Clinical Care.

Opening the event, the Head of Administration highlighted the purpose of the gathering and emphasized the significance of the support received. In his welcome address, the Medical Superintendent recounted how, following the completion of the theatre block through the support of Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, the facility reached out to the church for assistance with equipping the new space. He expressed deep appreciation and pleasant surprise at the volume and quality of equipment donated. He also announced that the theatre would soon be commissioned, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare delivery at the facility.

Both the Municipal Director of Health and the Deputy Director of the Municipal Assembly reaffirmed their respective institutions’ commitment to supporting the Polyclinic and strengthening healthcare services in the area.

Elder Creg Ostler, a humanitarian missionary representing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, noted that the church receives over 150 requests annually for medical support and that Koforidua Polyclinic was chosen among many. He reiterated the church’s dedication to improving healthcare outcomes in communities across Ghana.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Borlabi commended the strong partnership between the church and healthcare institutions and urged staff to take good care of the donated equipment. He encouraged continued dedication to quality service delivery.
The Ghana Health Service and Koforidua Polyclinic extend their heartfelt gratitude to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for this timely and impactful donation.
