The recent communal clash in Gbiniyiri and surrounding communities in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region has forced the closure of 44 out of 150 schools. The conflict, which erupted between Gonjas and Brifos over a parcel of land in Gbiniyiri, has disrupted teaching and learning across five circuit areas, affecting more than 5,000 pupils. 48,000 lives displced, 31 Lives Claimed at Gbiniyiri in Savannah Region Over Land Dispute

The ongoing killings at Gbiniyiri in Ghana’s Savannah Region have risen to 31, following the latest wave of violence that claimed 13 additional lives.  The clashes, which began on August 24 over a contested piece of land, have now affected 12 communities within the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District. The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), says approximately 48,000 residents predominantly women and childrenhave been forced to flee their homes.
