An unattended rubbish fire has been identified as the cause of a massive inferno that swept through parts of the Accra Timber Market in the early hours of Saturday, September 13, 2025. A significant fire erupted early Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, at the Accra Timber Market near Ayalolo School. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded swiftly, receiving the emergency alert at 1:17 a.m. and arriving on-site by 1:21 a.m. Seven fire engines from major stations across Accra—including Accra City, Regional Headquarters, Ministries, Circle, National HQ, Abelemkpe, and Legon—were deployed.
