A wave of sorrow has engulfed the Tamale metropolis as a newly married couple tragically lost their lives in a horrific accident less than 24 hours after their wedding ceremony. The heartbreaking incident occurred early Monday morning while the couple was reportedly en route to the groom’s rented apartment in Gurugu.
Eyewitnesses recount that the couple, riding a motorcycle, was struck by an unregistered vehicle believed to have been driven by a group of Nigerian nationals. The suspects reportedly fled the scene immediately after the crash, leaving the lifeless bodies of the couple behind.
The news has since gone viral on social media, with photos and videos showing emotional scenes of relatives and friends wailing uncontrollably. What should have been the start of a joyous union has now turned into a community-wide mourning.
