A lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and erstwhile Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai municipal assembly presiding member, Hon. Professor ROBERT AIDOO has bemoaned the opposition New Patriotic Party’s unreadiness and unwillingness to claim power from their prime political rival, NDC in 2028.
Prof. Aidoo made this revelation in an interview on Okyeame Radio Adekyee mu Nsem show chaired by Kaakyire where he stated that “it is a bit sad, from where I sit, it would appear to me that, is like NPPians are not fully ready for 2028”. “The way things had started, things don’t look good, their arrangements does not sit well with me”.
He suggested that elders in the party should intervene and speak to their members because if it continues this way, they can’t capture power in next general polls. He was also concerned about Mike Oquay’s committee report which content is known by some few people which according to him is dangerous because their motive for concealing the content of the report may backfire if they are not cautious.
Aside economic hardship, another undisputed factor that relegated NPP to opposition was apathy and disunity however, no step has been taken even by the party’s council of elders to resolve internal misunderstandings, he opined.
In addition, he warned that if they sweep things under the carpet, their items will fall and they may not be able to segregate them from the sand.Mr. Aidoo was expecting NPP to utilise this year for reconciliation before any internal elections take place since a house divided against itself cannot stand and cannot achieve anything.
He beseeched party’s leadership to prioritise reconciliation and unity because there is no way the party can grab victory in 2028 if differences are not resolved.
