Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has attributed his team’s 1-0 loss to Wydad Athletic Club to critical mistakes made during their CAF Confederation Cup second-round clash.
The match, held at the Accra Sports Stadium, saw Kotoko fall behind after Joseph Bakasu scored for Wydad in the 47th minute, capitalizing on a corner kick.
Just two minutes later, Kotoko’s goalkeeper Mohammed Camara was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area, further weakening the team’s chances.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, Coach Zito acknowledged that the errors had a major impact on the outcome but remained hopeful about the return leg in Morocco. “Football can be unpredictable.
Yes, we made mistakes that cost us, but we’re not heading into the second leg as losers. We’ll go there to play better,” he said.
Despite the setback, Zito expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to bounce back and deliver a stronger performance in the upcoming fixture.
