TVET Service Suspends Three Technical Institute Heads Over Unauthorized Fees

The Ghana TVET Service has suspended the heads of three technical institutes—Agona Swedru, Sunyani, and Madina—following confirmed reports of unauthorized fee collection and extortion. These included charges for admission, boarding protocols, residential status changes, fashion practical items, bedsheets, and PTA levies, all of which violate the government’s Free TVET Policy.

To address the issue, the Service has launched investigations through newly formed committees, whose members will be announced soon. While the probe is underway, the affected heads have been placed on a 30-day administrative leave. Their responsibilities have been temporarily assigned to the respective Regional Directors:

  • Madam Hannah Asamoah (Central Region) – Agona Swedru Technical Institute
  • Mr. Gabriel Gyamfi (Bono Region) – Sunyani Technical Institute
  • Engr. Juliana Nkrumah (Greater Accra Region) – Madina Technical Institute

The TVET Service reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, fairness, and zero tolerance for corruption, assuring the public of its dedication to maintaining integrity in technical and vocational education nationwide.
