The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has cancelled the entire results of 653 candidates who sat for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates (WASSCE-SC) for possessing mobile phones in the examination halls.
In addition, the council has cancelled the subject results of 6,295 candidates for taking foreign materials like prepared notes, textbooks and printed materials into the examination halls.
Furthermore, WAEC is withholding the subject results of 908 students and the entire results of 158 candidates for various offences.
Subject results
“Yet still, some subject results of candidates from 185 schools have been withheld for alleged collusion.
These cases are still under investigation,” WAEC said in a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, on the release of the 2025 WASSCE-SC results.
Court convictions
The statement said 19 persons had already been convicted to fines or terms of imprisonment by the courts for their roles in acts that compromised the integrity of the examination.
The 19 were part of 35 people, 19 of them teachers, who were found to have engaged in those acts.
“The remaining 16 are yet to be presented before the courts by the police.
“Beyond what the courts may decide, the list of teachers will be presented to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service for further disciplinary action,” the statement emphasised.

The council, it said, would make available login details to heads of schools to access the results of their candidates.
The statement said the results had been hosted online, and candidates who so desired could access their results at the council’s website: www.waecgh.org.
The council cautioned all stakeholders to be wary of fraudsters who had promised to upgrade results for a fee.
“Candidates are to note that WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated using its results verification system,” the statement said.
Candidature
A total number of 461,736 candidates, made up of 207,415 males and 254,321 females from 1,021 schools, registered for the examination.
The figure is a 0.24 per cent increase over the 2024 entry figure of 460,611.
A total number of 5,821 candidates, representing 1.26 per cent, were absent from the examination.
Core subjects
In English Language, 289,673 (60 per cent) of the candidates scored between A1-C6; 37,712 (8.18 per cent) others had D7; 39,091 (9.23 per cent) had E8, and 54,294 (12.86 per cent), had F9.
For Mathematics, 209,068 (48.73 per cent), had A1-C6; 52,991 (11.62 per cent) had D7; 52,145 (12.15 per cent) obtained E8, while 114,872 (26.77 per cent) had F9.
In Integrated Science, 220,806 (57.74 per cent) candidates scored A1-C6; 54,580 (11.85 per cent) had D7; 45,783 (11.79 per cent) recorded E8, while 61,243 (16.05 per cent) obtained F9.
For Social Studies, 248,538 (55.82 per cent) candidates had A1-C6; 33,670 (7.38 per cent) candidates had D7; 40,608 (9.12 per cent) had E8, while 122,449 (27.50 per cent) had F9.
Four-year statistics
The percentage of those who had A1-C6 in this year’s exams falls below that of 2022, 2023 and 2024.
A statement signed by the Director of Academic Affairs, Lydia Anowa Nyako-Danquah, said the application portal would be closed on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 5 p.m.
