CAF Inter-Club competitions: Asante Kotoko, Bibiani GoldStars to play home games at Accra Sports Stadium

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the Accra Sports Stadium to host the inter-club competitions.

With the Baba Yara Stadium now undergoing renovation, Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars, who will represent Ghana in the 2025/26 CAF interclub competitions, are expected to play their home games at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Kotoko has been paired with Nigeria’s Kwara United while GoldStars, winners of the 2025 Ghana Premier League, face JS Kabylie from Algeria.

The Porcupine Warriors will face Kwara United between September 19 and 21, 2025, while the return leg is scheduled for September 26 to 28 in Nigeria.

GFA introduces new U-19 player quotas across all leagues

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced new youth player quotas for the 2025/26 season as part of its drive to promote player development and ensure a steady pathway for young talents.

Under the new rules, Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs must name at least four U-19 players in every matchday squad, with a minimum of two seeing action in each game. Division One League (DOL) teams will be required to include six U-19 players per squad, with at least three starting matches.

The requirement is even higher in Division Two, where clubs must register eight U-19 players in their matchday squads, with a minimum of four in the starting line-up.

Achraf Hakimi rape case: French prosecutors demand criminal trial for PSG star

French prosecutors have requested that Moroccan football star and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) full-back, Achraf Hakimi, be put on trial over allegations that he raped a 24-year-old woman in February 2023; a claim the player firmly denies.
