President John Dramani Mahama has firmly stated that Ghana’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy is not only still in place but has been significantly reinforced.
Speaking at a media briefing in Accra, he addressed false claims that the policy would be discontinued after the 2024 elections.
He clarified that the government has made its largest-ever financial commitment to the program, allocating GHS 3.5 billion this year to support free secondary education.
In addition to education, President Mahama announced a major boost to Ghana’s healthcare funding for 2025.
The health budget has risen by 13.4%, from GHS 15.6 billion to GHS 17.8 billion. This increase is part of the government’s effort to strengthen the health system in response to both local demands and global health challenges.
