‘I’ve been on the same flight twice this year’ – Kofi Kinaata speaks on helicopter crash

Kofi Kinaata has opened up on the emotional toll of having flown twice in the same helicopter, that tragically crashed on August 6, 2025, claiming the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaian officials.

The musician revealed that the incident has severely haunted him, leaving him questioning the fragility of life.

Reflecting on this tragedy, along with a series of recent heartbreaking events, including the death of 16 school children in a car crash and the passing of legendary Highlife musician Daddy Lumba, Kinaata said these occurrences have weighed heavily on his soul.

In an X post, he wrote, “From the loss of 16 kids, to the passing of our legendary musicians, and now the helicopter tragedy, it’s been weighing heavily on my soul. What makes it even harder is knowing I’ve been on that same flight twice this year. That thought just won’t leave me. Moments like these really make you question life… what’s the point, when it can all end in an instant? I’ve tried to shake it off with music, but every song I write somehow turns into a sad one,” Kofi Kinaata wrote.

Rapper Sarkodie responded to Kofi Kinaata’s post, showing care and noted that he could relate to the emotional weight of such incidents.

He encouraged Kofi Kinaata to channel his feelings into his art, noting that his music could help others who may be going through similar struggles.

“It’s a very dark time and I can relate a hundred percent… as a true artist, you can only channel what you feel so don’t fight it just pour out what you are feeling inside… you don’t know who might need it. Drop the music,” Sarkodie wrote.
