In another development, a quiet afternoon at the Achimota overhead bridge turned tragic when a young man reportedly ended his life by jumping from the bridge in full view of stunned onlookers
Eyewitnesses say the man appeared to be in a hurry, running along the bridge just moments before the incident. He didn’t stop, didn’t speak to anyone and then, without hesitation, jumped over the edge.
“He was just running. No one really knew what was going on. Before we could even think to react, he had already jumped,” said one eyewitness. “It was too fast to stop him.”
The incident left those present in a state of disbelief and helplessness. Some tried to approach the scene below, but it was clear the man had not survived the fall.
Eyewitnesses indicate that it took a considerable amount of time for the police to arrive. By the time authorities got to the scene and removed the body, the crowd had grown quiet, confused, and mourning a stranger whose final moments played out before their eyes.
As of now, the man’s identity has not been confirmed, and it is unclear what may have led him to take his own life.
A life lost in an instant. A decision made in silence. And a moment that will live on in the minds of those who stood there, helpless.
