Atlanta Hawks Reward Dyson Daniels with $100M Contract After Breakout Season

Australian basketball star Dyson Daniels has signed a four-year, $100 million contract extension with the Atlanta Hawks following a stellar debut season with the team.

The 22-year-old, who stands at 6 feet 7 inches, joined the Hawks from the New Orleans Pelicans as part of a trade deal involving Dejounte Murray ahead of the 2024–2025 NBA season. After modest performances in his first two years—averaging 3.8 and 5.8 points respectively—Daniels made a dramatic leap in Atlanta.

In the 2024–2025 season, he averaged 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and a league-leading 3.3 steals across 76 games. His impressive performance earned him the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award and a spot on the All-Defensive First Team.

Daniels now forms part of the Hawks’ promising core lineup, which includes Trae Young, Kristaps Porziņģis, Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher, and Onyeka Okongwu. The Hawks are set to open their 2025–2026 campaign against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, October 22.
