Leaders of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has issued a firm three-day deadline to foreign nationals involved in retail trading within the area.
They insist these traders must shut down their businesses or face consequences, citing violations of Ghana’s investment laws and unfair competition that threatens local enterprises.
Speaking to the press in Accra, the Association’s General Secretary, Gifty Lovelock Naana Fianu, emphasized their readiness to invoke Section 27(1) of the GIPC Act, 2013 (Act 865) if authorities fail to act.
She outlined a strategic plan to reach out to the traders, followed by engagement with their leaders, and then formal communication with law enforcement and relevant institutions. If these efforts are ignored, the Association plans to take further action.
Meanwhile, some foreign traders have already closed their shops in response, and a public address system continues to circulate warnings throughout the trading hub.
