The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has, on the advice of the Bono Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, renewed the curfew hours for Sampa Township in Jaman North District of the Bono Region from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am each day, effective Thursday, September 11, 2025.

In a statement, the government urged Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth and People of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their grievances into ensuring peace in the area.

“Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in Sampa Township in Jaman North District of the Bono Region from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons. Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement said.

On Wednesday, September 11, the Inspector-General of Police deployed reinforcement teams to Sampa following violent chieftaincy disturbances in the town on 10th September 2025, which resulted in the death of one person and injuries to some others.

A statement issued by the Police said that they have since restored calm, beefed up security and intensified patrols within Sampa and surrounding communities.
