GES Launches Investigation into Alleged Malpractice in 2025 BECE

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has responded firmly to allegations of cheating during the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), following a report aired by JoyNews.

In a statement issued by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, GES dismissed any notion of inaction and confirmed that a full-scale investigation is underway.

The Service plans to review the original footage and transcripts from the JoyNews exposé to assess the extent of the malpractice. GES emphasized its strict stance against exam fraud, stating that such behavior erodes the credibility of the education system and hampers national development by producing underqualified graduates.

Any staff whether teaching or non-teaching found guilty of facilitating or participating in cheating will face serious disciplinary measures.

Backed by Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu and the GES Council, the Service pledged to uphold the integrity of the examination process.

It also announced plans to collaborate with WAEC, National Security, and law enforcement agencies to eliminate malpractice from the system.
