The Wife of the embattled former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has given possible timelines by which her husband would be able to honour the invitation by the Special Prosecutor to appear before his outfit in person. According to Prof Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, after a successful surgery on June 13, Mr Ofori-Atta would require about 3 months to recover fully.
“He has quite a bit of pain. We have to make sure his wounds don’t get infected. I think that they are expecting that he will be much improved after a while when the wounds heal. Then there would be a period of about 3 months when there’s observation going to happen, then hopefully after 3 months the recovery will be complete, and that’s if all goes well,” she explained on Jun.
Her comment was in reaction to the Special Prosecutor, Mr Kissi Agyebeng’s assertion during a press conference on June 2 when he declared Mr Ofori-Atta wanted again, for failing to honour a promise to appear his outfit earlier on that day.
In reaction, Mrs Ofori-Atta said, “It’s amazing that we have to deal with cancer in the last year. This is the only process by which we hopefully ensure that it doesn’t spread.”
“The Ken that we all know does not run away from accountability. We know that he has been to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to talk about his work. This is not a Ken who runs away from accountability. I ask the public to remember that he hasn’t shied away from facing up issues,” she stated.
She noted that the decision to get Mr Ofori-Atta to recover fully before presenting himself for interrogation, is one that has been taken by the family.
