Michael Okyere Baafi Declines to Run Again for New Juaben South Parliamentary Seat

Michael Okyere Baafi, the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South in Ghana’s Eastern Region, has confirmed he will not contest the seat again after his current term ends. Speaking in a JoyPrime interview, Baafi stated that his political mission is nearly complete and that he had always intended to serve only one term.

He explained that his entry into Parliament in 2020 was driven by a desire to address a specific issue in Koforidua’s parliamentary process, which he believes he has successfully resolved. “I came in to fix something, and I’ve done that,” he said, adding that his plan was to return to the corporate world after making a meaningful impact.

Baafi emphasized the importance of sticking to personal principles and timelines, noting that his passion for business remains strong. Prior to his parliamentary role, he served as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry and as Executive Secretary of the Ghana Free Zones Board.
