Police deny missing exhibits in Sekesua narcotics case — 36 sacks intact at Eastern Regional Command

The Ghana Police Service has dismissed false media reports suggesting that narcotic exhibits seized in Sekesua have gone missing.

Police confirmed that the 36 sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics, which were intercepted on September 30, 2025, along the Sekesua road, are all intact and securely kept at the Eastern Regional Command.

The case involves a Kia Truck with registration number ER-760-23, which was intercepted while carrying bags of dried substances concealed under sawdust. The vehicle was impounded and taken to the Sekesua Police Station, but the driver and his mate managed to escape custody and are currently on the run.

In a statement, the Police Service stressed that no part of the exhibit has gone missing and urged the public to disregard reports that the sacks had allegedly turned into sawdust.

The impounded truck as well as the 36 sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics have been retained at the Eastern Regional Command,” the Service clarified.

Meanwhile, the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has commenced investigations into the conduct of officers involved in the case, even as efforts are intensified to re-arrest the suspects who absconded.

The Police further reiterated their commitment to transparency and accountability in handling criminal investigations, particularly those involving narcotics, and assured the public of accurate updates on the case.
