Popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., has found himself at the center of a legal and regulatory issue involving the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). The celebrated musician was on Wednesday taken into custody as part of ongoing investigations into the tax obligations relating to his recently acquired yellow Lamborghini.
According to an official statement released by his management and sighted by EASTERN FM 105.1 MHZ, Shatta Wale did not resist or evade the process. Instead, he presented himself voluntarily at the EOCO headquarters, accompanied by his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo, to fully cooperate with the investigation. His manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah, confirmed that the artiste was invited by authorities to provide clarity and documentation regarding the luxury vehicle, which has become the subject of intense scrutiny.
The statement stressed that both Shatta Wale’s management and his legal representatives are “fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter.” It further added that every necessary step was being taken to ensure his release “at the earliest opportunity.”
Management Calls for Calm
Following the incident, Shatta Wale’s loyal fanbase, popularly referred to as the SM Family, has been urged to remain calm, avoid misinformation, and refrain from engaging in unnecessary speculation. The management assured supporters that they maintain “the utmost confidence in the judicial process” and believe the matter will be resolved fairly and transparently.
They also disclosed that Shatta Wale’s legal team is scheduled to return to EOCO on Thursday morning for further discussions with investigators, signifying that the process is ongoing and not yet concluded.
Assurance to the Public
Management reiterated that the dancehall star has nothing to hide and is committed to providing all required documentation to resolve the matter. They assured both fans and the general public that timely updates will be provided by EASTERN FM 105.1 MHZ as new developments unfold.
A Case That Has Sparked Wide Interest
The seizure and questioning of Shatta Wale over his luxury Lamborghini have sparked widespread conversations in entertainment circles, among his fans, and within the general public. For many, this development has raised broader questions about the scrutiny of celebrities, taxation, and ownership of high-value assets in Ghana.
While Shatta Wale has had his fair share of controversies over the years, his management insists that this latest issue is purely an administrative and legal matter concerning vehicle importation and tax obligations, not a criminal act.
As the situation unfolds, EASTERN FM 105.1 MHZ will continue to provide verified updates and detailed reports to keep the public well informed.
