You Can Run, But We Will Catch You-COP Yaako Donkor

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, has issued a strong warning to criminals, assuring them that the Ghana Police Service will relentlessly pursue them until they are brought to justice.

Her remarks follow the Service’s recent success in dismantling an armed robbery syndicate that had been terrorizing rural banks across five regions.

Speaking at a press briefing at the National Police Headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, September 24, COP Donkor declared: “To the criminals out there, always remember that you may run and hide, but we will surely get you arrested to face the full rigours of the law. We are coming for you.”

Her warning came after Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, described the coordinated operation against the syndicate as a “major breakthrough” in the fight against violent crime. The operation, which spanned the Ashanti, Ahafo, Western, Central, and Eastern regions, resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects and the death of three others during a shootout. Police also recovered 14 weapons, ammunition, vehicles, and mobile phones.

COP Donkor emphasized the Service’s determination to root out crime, promising that officers will continue working tirelessly to maintain law and order nationwide. “We wish to assure the good people of Ghana that the Police Service will continue to work around the clock to ensure security, law, and order at all times,” she said.

She further appealed for public cooperation, stressing that community support remains essential to policing success. “As always, we call on all our stakeholders and the general public to continue to support the police, report suspicious activities, and share credible information with the police,” she urged.

Her comments echo the IGP’s vow that Ghana will remain an uncomfortable place for criminals as the Police Service strengthens its fight against violent crime.
