The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced to the general public that it has commenced Ghana Card registration for Ghanaian children aged 6 to 14 years at all NIA premium centres nationwide.
In a statement issued on September 10, 2025 by Head of Corporate Affairs at NIA, Williams Ampomah E. Darlas, the exercise is in line with the NIA’s legal mandate to register all Ghanaians, both at home and abroad, and to ensure that every citizen has a secure and verifiable national identity.
It marks another step forward in building a comprehensive and inclusive National Identity Register (NIR) that captures every Ghanaian from childhood.
Registration Fees and Requirements
The fee for first-time registration at Premium Centres is GHC 310, consistent with the approved charges for premium services. Requirements remain the same as for applicants aged 15 years and above.
Parents or Legal guardians are to present one of the following:
1. A valid Ghanaian Passport of the child
2. The original copy of the child’s Birth Certificate
3. A Ghana Card holder parent or legal guardian who can vouch for the child.
Expansion of Online Registration and Booking System
NIA says effective Monday, September 15, 2025, the online registration and booking system will be extended to all 11 remaining premium centres nationwide, providing applicants with convenience in scheduling appointments.
Applicants are encouraged to make use of the online appointment booking system to ensure a smooth and timely process at the premium centres.
Issuance of Cards and Further Expansion of Services
The NIA assured the public that issuance of Ghana Cards for Ghanaians aged between 6 and 14 years who have already registered will be communicated in due course. The Authority will also announce, in the coming weeks, the extension of this registration services to all NIA district offices nationwide to expand access for applicants across the country.
